Application Process

Senior Network Services

IHSS Provider Registry Application Process

Call Senior Network Services at (831) 462-0880 to schedule an appointment to see if they are accepting applications for care providers.  If they are, they will schedule an appointment for you to go into their office.  If not, you will be put on a waiting list.   Note:  All new IHSS care providers must attend mandatory orientation through the IHSS Public Authority.  This is in addition to the Senior Network Services orientation.  Senior Network Services is a local non-profit agency that maintains a registry of providers to match consumers who need them.

Bring three (3) work references to your appointment with Senior Network Services.

  • Applicant is contacted after references have been verified and a second appointment is scheduled.  At this brief appointment, applicant must provide a valid drivers license or California ID, social security card and proof of insurance (if the provider will be driving on the job).
  • Applicants must submit to LiveScan fingerprint imaging at one of six (6) locations:
    • County Office of Education, 400 Encinal Street, Santa Cruz  ($52.00)
    • Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Center at Cabrillo College. 6500 Soquel Drive, Aptos  ($52.00)
    • Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department, 701 Ocean Street, Room 340, Santa Cruz   ($52.00)
    • Watsonville Police Department. 215 Union Street, Watsonville  ($52.00)
    • The UPS Store 1840 41st Ave, Suite 102, Capitola  ($62.00)
    • The UPS Store, 1961 Main Street, Watsonville  ($57.00)
  • Once fingerprinting imaging clearance has been obtained by the Department of Justice, applicants are contacted by Senior Network Services and they are scheduled for an Orientation and will complete the I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification form. They will also receive the policies and procedures of the Senior Network Services.
  • After the orientation, Senior Network Services is able to refer the provider to a potential consumer for a job interview. Any referral is based on matching the tasks the provider is willing and capable of doing (as listed on the provider application) and the IHSS social worker referral which lists the authorized assessed tasks the consumer needs assistance with. If this match is not successful, Senior Network Services will provide additional referrals.
  • IHSS consumers decide whom to hire for their authorized tasks and direct/train providers for accomplishing authorized services (tasks).
  • Independent providers earn $11.50 per hour and may be eligible for health insurance coverage.
