Consumer Services Offered through IHSS
- A registry to help you find a provider.
- Screening of applicants to match them to your needs.
- Background and reference checks.
- Referral of applicants for you to interview.
- Information on how to hire a provider.
- Assistance with interviewing in your home, if needed.
- Help with problem-solving and communication issues - we can meet with you and your provider to help work things out.
- Orientation and training for providers.
- Negotiation with the providers' union for wages and benefits.
Services IHSS Can Not Provide
- Change to authorized hours - please talk to your IHSS social worker.
- Recommend a particular provider - that is your choice.
- Hire or fire a provider for you - you must do this as the employer.
- Fill out the provider enrollment or Personal Care Services Program Provider Enrollment Agreement forms for you.
- Sign time cards - you must do this after your provider works for you.
