Welcome to the IHSS Public Authority of Santa Cruz County Website.

The In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program helps elderly, blind and disabled people to remain in their own homes when they are not able to fully care for themselves or handle routine household tasks.

The program pays for a wide variety of services - household chores and personal care - enabling the person to live safely in her or his own home, while encouraging independence and self-reliance where possible.  IHSS is an alternative to out-of-home care in institutions.  Apply for services.

IHSS Advisory Commission

This is an eleven-member, volunteer Advisory Commission which meets every other month to make IHSS program recommendations to the Board fo Supervisors.  Meetings are public, and IHSS consumers are invited to join the Commission, which must consist of 50% or more of consumers or past consumers of in-home care.  Home care providers are also represented.
